“Smokeless” fire pits do not remove smoke entirely; they are designed to burn wood more completely so there is much less of it. Breeo’s pits use double-wall construction with secondary combustion holes; BioLite’s uses a battery-powered fan. The five below range from a portable pit with a deck heat shield to an insert that turns an existing stone ring smokeless.

1. BioLite FirePit+: for fan-controlled flames and grilling
The FirePit+ uses an integrated 4-speed fan to push air into the fire, so you can turn the flames up or down. A detachable 12,800 mAh USB power pack runs the fan for up to 30 hours on low, 14 on medium and 7 on high, and its mesh sides let you see the fire from all around. It comes with a grill grate and an adjustable fuel rack for wood or charcoal.

2. Breeo Y Series Portable Smokeless Fire Pit: for decks and taking the fire with you
The Y Series is Breeo’s portable pit, with a built-in handle and legs that set it at 11, 15 or 20 inches. Breeo says its built-in heat shield lets you burn on composite and wood decks and patios, but on composite decking you should always extend the legs to the highest setting. It burns wood, lump charcoal or pellets.

3. Breeo X Series Smokeless Fire Pit: for a permanent backyard centerpiece
The X Series is Breeo’s flagship, made in the USA from heavy-gauge 304 stainless or Corten steel. Corten arrives as blue steel and develops a weathered patina; stainless resists corrosion. It comes in four sizes, the X19, X24, X30 and X42, from 22 to 46 inches across.

4. Breeo Luxeve Smokeless Fire Pit: for a modern look with a wide rim
Luxeve is Breeo’s design-led pit, available in several colors, with a wide 12-inch rim and a lid included. It uses the same double-wall secondary combustion as the X Series and is compatible with Breeo’s Live-Fire Pizza Oven.

5. Breeo Zentro Smokeless Fire Pit Insert: for upgrading an existing stone or block fire ring
Zentro slides into a new or existing block, stone or masonry fire pit to make it smokeless. The 24-inch insert fits a ring with a 26 to 32 inch inside diameter and the 30-inch fits 32 to 40 inches; there is also a square version. Breeo says optimal airflow needs a pit at least 15 inches deep.
